Opening the "quote" link in a new tab means your text is in a quote too

If I read the way I tend to, which is to open all the posts I want to reply to in new tabs then go through them, I can't write "under" the quote. When I go to the new tab, the editor is opened there, and the quote's there in blue, but no matter what I can't get into the "white" bit to write, it's always on a blue quote background.
