Spazzy 'edit' editor

When I was posting from iPhone (iOS 5.somethingorother) I noticed a couple of things:

1) Most of the edit icons were greyed out and couldn't be used (e.g. "add picture" button not active).
2) Sometimes the text edit box would keep growing as if I was repeatedly pressing return/enter for a newline - this meant I had to scroll down quite far to get to the post button, but when posted the text was fine (no massive empty space), so either it was just a display issue or the trailing whitetext got stripped when submitting the post.
